The Soul of the Prairie Region is home to two higher education institutions, Minot State University and Dakota College at Bottineau. Both institutions have desirable class sizes, Midwest charm, and school pride that make students feel like they are a part of something bigger.
Minot State University
Minot State University is a 4-year institution. The student-faculty ratio is 11:1, making learning personalized and classes comfortable. Minot State University offers a variety of programs with most students earning degrees in healthcare, business, or education. The cost to attend is the same for in-state students as out of state students, making it affordable for undergraduates to achieve their degrees. As for athletics, MiSU is an NCAA Division II school and has opportunities in a variety of sports, including national championship winning hockey programs.
Dakota College at Bottineau
Dakota College at Bottineau is a 2-year institution located in Bottineau, North Dakota. The school has an open admissions policy and offers credit for life experiences. The student to faculty ratio is 13:1 and many students are part-time, working to earn their degree on their time. Dakota College at Bottineau offers degrees and certificates in 30 different fields including Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Emergency Medical Technology.
Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College
Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College (NHSC), located in New Town, North Dakota, is a public tribal land-grant institution founded in 1973 by the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation. NHSC offers associate and bachelor’s degrees across various fields, including Native American studies, elementary education, and environmental science. With a student body of approximately 172 undergraduates and a favorable student-to-faculty ratio of 5:1, the college provides a supportive and personalized learning environment. Its mission emphasizes both academic excellence and the preservation of Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara cultures.
